For both overseas and South African tourists to Cape Town, one of the things that are high on their list of priorities is spending some time on the city’s beautiful beaches. In fact, Cape Town’s beaches have consistently ranked in the top lists worldwide. Some beaches have a vibrant party atmosphere with high-end restaurants that line the beachfront and many places to find the perfect sundowner. Others are more secluded for a quiet escape from the buzzing summer crowds. There are so many options to soak up the sun on Cape Town’s Beaches; we thought we should share some options with you.

Llandudno Beach

Head to Llandudno beach for perfect Instagram pictures, with big boulders and fine white sand. A well-maintained promenade runs the length of the beach for a nice stroll that’s kind on the feet. Unlike Camps Bay, there are few amenities so go prepared with a picnic basket. The kids will love fossil and sea glass hunting while you drink in the vista of the glittering turquoise ocean and the magnificent surrounding mountain backdrop.

Camps Bay

Camps Bay, one of the most popular beaches in Cape Town, is the playground for sun tanners and loungers. It can be packed in summer as this is the place to see and be seen. During the day you can enjoy stunning views of the Twelve Apostles and get active with volleyball and frisbees. In the evenings you will feel like you finally arrived as you sip on your sundowner at one of the many bars and restaurants lining the beachfront as you watch the sun dipping into the ocean.

If the chilly waters of the Atlantic put you off, you will enjoy the warmer ocean temperatures of the Indian ocean in Muizenberg. Although you will find all the amenities you need conveniently close, the beach stretches for miles with enough space to secure your own secluded sunbathing spot.

Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach is an attraction on its own. Not just for the beautiful secluded beach, but also the penguins. Located near Simons Town, there lies a little secret, a protected colony of African penguins. On the Indian ocean, the water is warmer, and you may be more willing to dip your toes into ocean on this side of the map. With many attractions on the way including Just Nuisance, it is a great spot to do some sightseeing and swimming.

If you are in Cape Town or are planning a visit, give us a call to arrange your perfect beach outing. Our friendly drivers will pick you up and take you back according to your own customized itinerary.
